Surrounded by a coterie of war-mongers led by national Security Advisor John Bolton, Trump makes his bid for a second term in the US presidency.
Having done all they can to put Iran on the back foot in the Middle East, Trump has been persuaded to hold firm to his ‘America First’ policy with a wall, of kinds, on the Mexican border and tariffs on Mexico if it doesn’t do more to arrest the flow of immigrants into the US.
With the US auto industry dependent to a significant extent on motor parts from south of the border, the stock market has registered shock. But the US president and his advisors stand firm for an independent America that drew enough Americans to win Trump the US presidency.
In a last ditch effort to hold on to his allies in the Far East Trump journeyed to Japan to meet with Japan’s new emperor and played a round of golf with Japan’s premier Shinzo Abe. But business appeared wary as Japan’s economy is largely dependent motor cars exports with the US the single largest importer.
Presumably promises of protection were made to Japan as the trade war with China continues, but not many believe that the US’s anti-globalization policies will win the US any laurels, especially not in Europe where BREXIT baffles all.
Trump next travels to The United Kingdom to meet with the Her Majesty the Queen and is expected receive a warm reception in the country America helped salvage after World War II, but protests are expected over the war drums for World War 111 beginning to sound.
Then there’s the question of Russian interference in the US elections, but America has interfered so often in the elections of other countries with their regime change paradigm that it holds little water outside of the US.
