Tata’s revealed its brilliant new E-Vision sedan at the Geneva Motor Show 2018.
The electric car has now become the third model to adorn Tata’s new Impact 2.0 design language after the H5X SUV and the 45X hatchback concepts showcased earlier at the Auto Expo 2018.
The E-Vision looks nothing like what anything seen from Tata Motors before and could go up against the likes of the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and the Hyundai Elantra.
The E-Vision looks more elegant and mature. It has a “hunkered down look with the nose diving in at the front” with “a design element that can be seen on the new Volkswagen Polo and Virtus sedan” while “the grille swoops inside and is flanked by sleek headlamps”.
It has a coupe-like roof-line that features a C-pillar and the rear sleek wraparound LED tail lamps.
Its elegant exterior complements its interior. The dashboard is multi-layered like and features a light beige colored theme with wood highlighters.
Besides “the regular instrument cluster, there’s an additional one on top of the dashboard, which pops out as and when needed”.
The infotainment system also protrudes out of the dashboard and there’s no running central console that starts from the dashboard and separates the front two seats, like most other cars to leave lots of room for front passengers. “The cabin is tunnel-free…thus freeing up plenty of leg room at the rear.
Tata says that the it won’t lag behind its competitors “as it will feature cloud computing, analytics, geo-spatial mapping along with several advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS”.
The E-Vision’s is to have an impressive sub-7 second 0-100kmph sprint time and a max speed of 200 km with a range of about 300km to 400 km from a single battery charge.
“This puts it in the same league as some of the popular electric cars like the Hyundai Ioniq, Chevrolet Bolt and the Tesla Model 3”, Tata says proudly.
