The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in a summit, strongly condemned the actions of Israeli forces against the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where unarmed Palestinian civilians, including children, were shamelessly killed.
The OIC summit demanded holding Israel fully responsible for these grave atrocities in the Palestinian Territory, particularly the latest episode of willful murder of at least 60 civilians and thousands injured.
The OIC communiqué declared these acts were savage crimes committed by Israeli forces with the concurrence of the US administration.
The OIC noted that these crimes had been committed in the backdrop of the decision by the US to officially move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The Muslim body called on the international community to defend international law and order and demanded accountability for the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people.
It then called upon the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly, UN Secretary General, UN Human Rights Council, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for an international investigation committee to determine the culpability of the Israeli officials responsible.
The OIC then re-affirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the status of Al-Quds to the Muslim Ummah and renewed its support for the Palestinian people in their pursuit of self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian State.
It next reiterated its rejection of the illegal decision of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to recognize Jerusalem, or Al Quds, as the capital of Israel.
The OIC promised it would work with the international organizations, including the Arab League, the European Union and the African Union on this issue, but steered clear of issuing any kind threats to leave the front door open for Israel to continue with impunity.
At the end of the summit, voices were heard saying that the back door should be left open for militant groups like Al Qaeda to take up the cause, as nothing more than the blowing of hot air could be expected from the OIC.
